Shadcn Charts: Line, Bar, Area, Pie and Radial Chart Blocks

Chart cards, not bare charts: 52 blocks that wrap the figure in a header stat, period controls and a legend, sorted by chart type.

Shadcn Chart Blocks, Sorted by Chart Type

The free shadcn chart documentation gets you a bar, line, area, pie, or radial chart on a blank canvas. What it does not get you is the card around it: the header stat, the delta badge, the period tabs that swap the dataset, the legend listing each source with its share, and a tooltip that looks like your product. That surrounding layer is most of the work, and it is what these blocks are.

The group is split the way you search for a chart: area, bar, composed, line, pie, radial, sankey and slope charts each have a category, and 2 more hold blocks where the chart is small, sparkline KPI tiles and per-row status trackers. New chart types join as their own category.

They are built on ReUI Frame, Badge, IconTile, and ColorPicker with the shadcn Chart wrapper over Recharts, plus Tabs, ToggleGroup, Select, Item, HoverCard, Tooltip, DropdownMenu, Dialog, AlertDialog, Separator, and Avatar for the controls and context around the figure.

Each category lists every block in it, with a live preview and the install command on each block page.

  • Area Chart

Area chart cards with gradient fills, comparisons to a prior period or baseline, hover readouts and CSV export for trends over time.

  • Bar Chart

Bar and column charts, stacked hourly outcomes, 3D prisms, diverging lanes and lollipop stems for comparing values.

  • Composed Chart

Composed charts that mix bars, lines and areas on one axis: liquidity flows, sales against a goal, cashflow, margin and a canary rollback.

  • Line Chart

Line chart cards with single and multi-series lines, dual axes, reference lines and metric switchers.

  • Pie Chart

Donut cards for share of a whole, with source rows, version drill-down and period switches, plus a budget rose for spend against budget.

  • Radial Chart

Radial cards for a value against a limit or target: concentric error budget rings, API health ring gauges and a day clock of inflows.

  • Sankey Chart

Sankey flow charts for income statements, trial journeys and sales funnels, with hover tracing, drop-off nodes and leak markers.

  • Slope Chart

Slope charts for rank shifts between 2 orderings of the same items, with weighted lines, hover tracing and animated re-sorts.

  • Sparkline

KPI tiles and metric lists where each value pairs with a small line, area or bar sparkline and a delta.

  • Status Tracker

Per-row status trackers for run history, deploy stages and pipelines, with hover details and filters.

Chart Types Beyond the Standard Set

  • Sankey flow charts An income statement where 3 revenue lines merge, then split into costs and profit under a quarter picker, a trial journey where each stage leaks into its own drop-off node, and a sales funnel by lead source that sheds drops scaled to each stage's loss rate.
  • Slope charts for rank shifts Services sloping from their traffic rank to their days of error budget left, with line weight set by requests and a Current or Baseline switch, and 11 acquisition channels re-ranked from signups to Day N retention on a Day 1 to 90 ruler.
  • Segmented arc and radial gauges Semicircular SVG arc gauges for uptime and code coverage, 3-across segmented radial gauges for API and ops monitoring, and a half-donut inflows gauge with a center total.
  • Segmented bars and meters Connection health and linked dataset segment bars with counted legends, a failed versus timed out split for a cron job fleet, and 6-segment deploy stage meters that fill live as a pipeline runs.
  • Sparkline variants Corner line sparklines with hover tooltips, gradient area sparklines, dotted-fill sparklines that swap per period, per-row sparklines in a vertical KPI list with trend Badge chips, and a cron success rate sparkline against a dashed SLO line.
  • Composed and dual-axis charts Area plus line composed charts, a dark 2-gradient DeFi card, and a dual-axis sales versus views chart plotting 2 independent scales as solid and dashed lines.
  • Reference lines and markers A balance line chart with a date reference line and custom dots on peaks and troughs, a sales versus goal chart with a dashed vertical reference marker, and canary error rate and latency charts with a dashed limit, traffic step markers, and a rollback marker.
  • Ridgelines, prisms and diverging lanes A day of grid output as 6 ridges receding in depth with a 3D or 2D view, yearly fund inflows as 3D prisms by fund or in total, and road and rail transit lanes that diverge ahead of or behind target on a live feed.
  • Lollipop and bead charts Daily error budget burn-down lollipops that hang below 0% once overspent, hourly burn rate lollipops on a log axis with pace and page lines, diverging budget pins, and bead sparklines and bead stacks for 28-day trends and budget events.
  • Stacked hourly columns and run strips Hourly columns stacked by outcome, from runner time bars with a timeout burn callout to hatched pill segments on muted hourly tracks and a firewall pill grid, plus per-job strips of the last 20 runs where each bar opens a HoverCard.

The Card Around the Chart Is Already Wired

  • Period switching in every form it takes: Week, Month, Year Tabs, 5D, 2W and 1M tabs, Day to Year and 1W to 3M period menus, 7 to 90 day and 30 day to 12 month range toggles, 6 month to 2 year and 30 versus 90 day Select menus, and a quarter picker, each swapping the dataset rather than only restyling it.
  • Metric switchers where clickable KPI tabs change which series the chart draws, so 3 or 4 metrics share a single figure instead of needing a card each.
  • Trend deltas as tone-coded Badge chips beside the headline value, with the percent change tied to the active period.
  • Custom tooltips, including dark tooltips, that match the card instead of shipping the Recharts default.
  • Entrance behaviour that stays out of the way: bars that rise from the floor, animated area reveals, Sankey links that pour or drain in, slope lines that draw in, and pulsing dots on the active point.
  • Context that turns a figure into a panel: center totals, per-source legends with amount and percent share, reviewer Avatar stacks, icon tiles, and an Export, Filter, Share DropdownMenu.
  • Outcome chips on a ToggleGroup that hide any series but the last, and range selection by drag, click, or keyboard that rewrites the readout for the selected window.
  • Readout bands above or below the plot that read the hovered or pinned column, so no tooltip card ever covers a bar.
  • Actions on the card itself: Run now, pause, Promote, and Roll back, with an AlertDialog before a canary is promoted or rolled back, plus CSV and metrics export.
  • Widget toolbars in the card header: display menus for gridlines and labels, a refresh with a pending state, an expand dialog, accent colors from a ReUI ColorPicker, and CSV downloads beside a copied summary.
  • Live states on a demo clock: canary metrics that stream, deploy stage meters that fill as a pipeline runs, error budget runways that re-sort as burn drifts, and ages that keep counting, ready to swap for your own event stream.

Written for a Dashboard Domain, Not a Sample Dataset

Platform and SRE monitoring is the largest share, 18 blocks in 6 families: 4 cron job health charts, 4 deploy and canary charts, 5 SLO error budget charts, 3 data sync charts, an audit log event volume chart, and a firewall traffic grid. They pair with the full consoles in Dev Ops.

Finance covers net worth and portfolio KPI grids with brand logo stacks, an account balance tracker with high, low, and change stats, capital inflows by source as a donut and a half ring gauge, yearly fund inflows as 3D prisms, an income statement Sankey from revenue lines to costs and profit, cashflow area and line cards, and dark crypto cards for total value locked and NFT floor price.

Commerce and marketing cover a sales pipeline Sankey by lead source, a trial conversion Sankey, inbound leads against last year, orders and revenue overview cards, campaign impressions against the prior period, and a dual-axis sales versus views chart. Traffic and growth analytics add a browser share donut, a multi-line Facebook, Instagram, and LinkedIn comparison, and a channel retention slope chart.

Operations rounds it out with API and uptime gauges, inventory velocity and catalog health cards, road and rail transit days against target for logistics, a power grid generation mix across 6 sources, and a small fitness set covering weekly running volume and cycling distance.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which charting library do these blocks use?

Recharts, mostly through the shadcn Chart wrapper, which is the same setup the shadcn chart documentation uses, and the income statement and trial journey flows use the Recharts Sankey. Series colors come from CSS variables, so charts follow your theme in light and dark without a second palette. A minority are hand-built in SVG or CSS instead: arc gauges, 3D prisms, transit lanes, segment and stage meters, run strips, pill grids and lollipop pins, because Recharts has no primitive for those shapes.

Are there TanStack Charts blocks?

Not yet. The blocks in this group draw with Recharts or with hand-built SVG and CSS today. TanStack Charts blocks are on the way, and they will be filed under the same chart type categories, so a TanStack line chart will sit next to the Recharts ones in Line Chart rather than in a separate library section.

How are the chart blocks organized?

By chart type, the way you search for one: area, bar, composed, line, pie, radial, sankey and slope charts each have a category. Two more hold blocks where the chart is small: Sparkline for KPI tiles and metric lists, and Status Tracker for rows that each carry a run or stage history.

What is the difference between a chart block and a stats block?

A chart block leads with the figure: the visualization is the point and the numbers frame it. A stats block leads with the number and may add a sparkline for context. Reach for stats when you want a KPI strip across the top of a page, and for a chart block when you want the panel a user actually studies.

Can I change the data and the number of series?

Yes. Demo data lives in plain arrays, usually in a data file beside the chart, and most Recharts blocks name each series in a chart config object, so a new series is a config key, a value in each data row and its own Area, Bar or Line. Period switchers read from keyed datasets, which means a new range is a new key rather than new component logic.

Can the monitoring charts run on live data?

Yes. The cron job, deploy, SLO, and data sync charts read typed records from their data file, and the live ones (canary health, release lanes, deploy history, and the error budget runway) advance on a demo clock. Point them at your scheduler, CI, or metrics API by replacing that file and the clock with your own feed.

Do the charts work in dark mode?

Yes. Charts draw from theme CSS variables rather than hardcoded hex values, so light and dark both work without extra configuration. A few blocks in the set are deliberately dark-surfaced for crypto and DeFi dashboards, and those keep their own treatment so the card still reads correctly next to lighter panels.
