Why ReUI MCP

No more generic UI

Generic UI is what an agent writes when it cannot see the registry. 19 tools and 4 slash commands let it look first.

Scored, intent-based search

Ranked matches with a score and a whyMatch reason, plus a weakMatch flag when nothing really fits.

See it before you install

Every block and example returns a preview image and a live URL, so you see it before it lands.

Whole-page planning

compose_page turns an intent into ordered sections, each filled with the best-matching item.

Inline component APIs

get_component reads up to 20 component APIs in one call, or only the sections you name.

No hallucinated props

validate_usage checks planned components and props against the real API before code is written.

Agent Skills

Your agent’s ReUI playbook

The skills encode the full ReUI workflow, so your agent works like a senior engineer - not from memory.

  • Search the ReUI registry first, never write generic markup
  • Read the real component API before wiring data
  • Adapt reuse-first to an exceptional bar: states, responsive, real data
  • Install with the shadcn CLI, then run the audit checklist
  • Stop and ask when nothing in the registry fits the request

How it works

From prompt to production

Connect once. Your agent searches, installs, and wires - no new tools, no context switching.

01

Connect the MCP

Add the ReUI server and install the free Agent Skills. One config line, then approve the browser sign-in your agent opens on the first connect, with any MCP-capable agent.

02

Ask, or run a command

Ask in plain language, or run a command (build, add, fix, improve). Your agent searches the registry with scored, intent-based matching.

03

Ship production-ready UI

It installs via the shadcn CLI, wires real data, fixes icons, matches your theme, and audits before you ship, and links you to the docs page for every block it used.

What is the ReUI MCP server?

The ReUI MCP server connects your AI coding agent to the ReUI registry. Your agent searches the whole library with intelligent, scored matching and gets back the best blocks, components, and Icons with ready-to-run install commands, so you build with ReUI by chat instead of guessing or writing generic markup. It is free, and all it needs is a free ReUI account: add https://mcp.reui.io to your agent's MCP config, then approve the "Sign in with ReUI" prompt your browser opens on the first connect, which creates the account if you do not have one. Free accounts get a daily request allowance, shown on your ReUI account page.

What are ReUI Agent Skills, and why use them?

Agent Skills are installable instructions that teach your coding agent how to use ReUI correctly: the install workflow, ReUI's design rules for color, spacing, motion and states, and the real primitive APIs (Data Grid, Event Calendar, Gantt, Kanban, Filters, and more), so it composes blocks the right way instead of hallucinating props. They pair with the MCP server for live registry search. The skills are free and install with one command that writes the skill into every place Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode and Gemini CLI look for it, plus a short design-rules block in AGENTS.md: "curl -fsSL https://mcp.reui.io/install | node -".

What commands can I run with ReUI?

Once the MCP is connected, ReUI gives your agent 4 slash commands: /mcp__reui__build (compose a page or feature), add (find and install one item), fix (correct ReUI usage), and improve (refine and extend existing UI to a production bar). In Claude Code they run as /mcp__reui__build; other agents show MCP prompts under their own names, or not at all. With the Agent Skills installed you can also just ask in plain language - both run the same workflow. See the Docs.

Do I need a paid plan for the MCP server and Agent Skills?

No. Connecting the MCP server and installing the Agent Skills is free, and all you need is a free ReUI account, created by the browser sign-in your agent opens the first time it connects. What stays paid is the premium content: Pro blocks need a Pro or Ultimate license, and icons and paid templates need Ultimate. Compare plans at Pricing.

Which coding agents are supported?

There are 16 per-agent setup guides: Claude, Codex, Cursor, Grok CLI, Conductor, v0, Lovable, Replit, Bolt, OpenCode, VS Code, GitHub Copilot, Kilo Code, Zed, Antigravity, and Gemini CLI. Any other MCP-capable agent works with the same server URL. You add the ReUI MCP server in your agent's config, sign in with ReUI on the first connect, then install the agent skill with "curl -fsSL https://mcp.reui.io/install | node -"; hosted agents read the same skill from the MCP instead. Setup steps for each agent are in the Docs.

How does my agent find the right block or component?

When you describe what you want, your agent asks the ReUI MCP to search the registry. The server runs intent-based, scored matching across blocks, components, and Icons and returns the best options, each with an install command and a docs link. Your agent then installs the chosen item with the shadcn CLI and wires it up using the skill's guidance.

How do I set up ReUI for Agents?

Add the ReUI MCP server (https://mcp.reui.io) to your agent's config, then install the agent skill by running "curl -fsSL https://mcp.reui.io/install | node -", which writes it into every place Claude Code, Codex, Cursor, OpenCode and Gemini CLI look for it. Agents with no local skill file, such as the hosted ones, read the same workflow from the MCP instead. Both steps are free: the first connection opens a "Sign in with ReUI" approval in your browser (a free account is created there), and headless or CI runs use a personal token from your account instead. Full per-agent instructions are in the Docs.

Is my code sent anywhere?

No. The MCP server only receives your search queries and returns registry results; it never sees your code and never reads or uploads your codebase. A license key is optional on the MCP itself: passing one as the MCP credential is what makes premium blocks and Motion Icons show up in search results, and installs read that same key locally through the shadcn CLI.
